Polish Rok drivers among the best
Torun hosted the Grand Carting Gala – Karting Masters 2012. Polish federation summed up the season and awarded the best drivers. During the gala, which achieved a status of the most important event in recent months, Polski Karting magazine also awarded its prizes. Among the winners, there were several contestants of Rok Cup Poland.
Michal Grzyb and Karol Lubas, drivers competing in this year’s Rok Cup Poland and well-known from the Grand Final in Lonato, were awarded special prizes during Karting Masters 2012 in Torun. Journalists from Polski Karting magazine awarded both drivers the most important prizes. Michal Grzyb was recognized as the driver with the most important achievements in the 2012 season, and Karol Lubas received the award for the most valuable driver of the season, winning the Golden Steering Wheel (Most Valuable Driver of the Year). Both drivers also stood on top of the podium and were awarded prizes by the Federation for winning in their respective categories.
Among the winners, there were also other drivers competing in Rok Cup Poland. Jan Antoszewski (Mini Rok) was awarded for the most spectacular achievement of the season – he secured his overall victory of the season in the final race. Marcel Kuc (Baby Rok) was awarded for the most wins in races (25) and pole positions (15) achieved in two carting series. Journalists from Polski Karting recognized the battle between Alan Lalak and Marcel Kuc (Baby Rok), who fought for thousandths of a second to win in the final round, as the most exciting fight of the season. Rok drivers were also awarded prizes to the old-timer and for the biggest bad luck of the season. These were given to Andrzej Slowinski (Super Rok) and Adrian Janicki (Mini Rok), and Spring Rok Cup hosted in Gostyn was recognized as the best event of the year.
Journalists from Polski Karting magazine also recognized five drivers as Carting Hope of the Year. Among them were three Rok drivers: Jan Galeja, Dominik Zajac and Maciej Chrupek (all from Mini Rok category).
There were also awards founded by the promoter of Rok Cup Poland series, AMO-Sportsystem. The promoter awarded six best drivers in each category with gift vouchers (Gift Voucher), and the winner of each category received a new engine and its service in the 2013 season as a prize.
It is worth mentioning that the stars of the evening were Rok Cup masters Maciej Bernacik, the winner of the International Rok Cup in 2007, and Michal Slomian, a former Polish carting champion, also in Rok Cup categories, and today Porsche Supercup test driver.
